Mushrooms Growing On Tree Trunk? Contact A Tree Service Company

After I realized that my entire yard was at risk because of our towering pine trees, I decided to start looking for a professional tree service company. I didn't necessarily want to chop the trees down, but I knew that they needed to be trimmed in order to keep millions of pine needles from falling all over my yard. It was a lot of work, but I decided that it would be smart to protect my investments. After finding a great business, it was incredible to see how well they trimmed the trees and tidied up the foliage. This blog is all about working with a great tree service.

Seeing mushrooms growing on a lawn is a good sign that the soil is fertile. Seeing mushrooms growing on a tree trunk is not a good sign, as this signifies rot somewhere in the tree. Keep reading to see if you can save your tree or if you need to cut it down.

Signs the Tree is Dying

Besides mushrooms, your tree will display other symptoms if it is dying. You will notice the crown, which is the top of the tree, is dying back. The side of the tree that has the mushrooms may be dying back also. Leaves will drop easily early in the season and the leaves will not grow well. You will see the foliage droop or wilt and leaves will not be as green.

You will see twigs easily fall from the tree as well as small branches. If you pick up one of these twigs or branches it will be easy for you to break it. Along with mushrooms, you may see cankers growing on the trunk and/or branches. Cankers look like dead areas on the tree trunk. You may notice the tree leans in one direction and see insects attacking the tree, such as carpenter ants and boring insects.

Remove the Tree

If you see the above signs with your tree, it is time to cut it down. Never try to do this on your own. If not done correctly, the tree could fall and cause damage, such as to a structure. Instead, contact a tree removal company to do this for you.

The company will first start by chopping the branches starting at the top of the tree until only the trunk is left. Once all wood is chopped, you should throw it away as the wood will not be in good condition. The tree service company will then use a chainsaw or other equipment to start removing the tree one piece at a time. When they are finished, the tree trunk will be left behind. Ask the tree removal company to ground the tree stump down for you, and then you can fill the hole with soil and plant grass, or plant another tree.

If your tree is in an open area in your yard, and it will not cause damage if it falls, you should consider tree removal. The tree can be a home for wildlife animals, such as birds, squirrels, and more if left alone. The tree removal company can give you their opinion on if you should remove the tree or keep it for a while longer.
